This May Just Be...

...my last post for awhile!
So I will make the health update a quick one. After having several painful shots in my butt cheeks, I found out this week that my iron has only gone up to 105 from 102. Crazy eh?!? There's no danger to the baby because he takes what he needs and leaves the rest for me. So after much thought and encouragement from my doctor, I'm going to put red meat back in my diet. I'm pretty disappointed about it but its for the best. I'm not entirely sure how much I should be eating a week but I will definitely start off with only a little bit. Last time I had meat after a long time, I got pretty sick.

I'm not dilated at all, and have had very few contractions, so if I don't give birth by June 3 (which is only an educated guess and only about 5% of women actually do give birth on their projected day), then Friday June 5th,  I have an appt at the hospital to figure out if they will induce. They might decide to induce that day, or to schedule a date for the following week. I'm hoping that my doctor will be there, so it might be on the 10th or the 11th.
We will for sure keep you posted by email or Twitter! Rich has Twitter set up on his Blackberry now so he can give you a play by play...Don't expect any while I'm delivering, I can only imagine how those would read! hehe

Wish me luck everyone! It's been a fun adventure but this past week has been the hardest!
I will be happy to get my mobility back!

Weekend with the Boys

I must say that the weather was amazing last weekend.
Rich opened the pool and cranked up the heat so by the time the boys got here, the pool was at 84. Saturday we all jumped around in the water for a few hours. The boys are really comfortable in the water, and Josh can even dive! Well, part dive part belly flop. hehe
He's a little fish and has no problem with swimming under water too. This year his feet can touch the bottom. We later had a great BBQ.

It was Maya's first time seeing people in the pool, she was very curious but barked a lot when I went in! She got used to the idea pretty quick and was always supervising.

Daddio and boys

Making a special treat.
I found a really fun and super easy recipe for "Cookies & Creme Chocolate Pudding Pops", (like frozen fudgesicles) to do with the boys while they were here. Here they are crushing the Oreo cookies...

Josh really enjoys cooking. He also has a great memory. He mentioned how he enjoyed making our creepy worm Halloween treats. I was very impressed!

They both absolutely had to have their turn. If one
went out of turn, watch out. This pic is the prelude to a very messy aftermath. They were pulling the spoon out of each other's hand (they even had their own spoon!) and finally the pudding threw across the room all over the door, wall and floor. Fun times!

They really turned out! I don't have a pic of the finished frozen product because I was taking a snooze.
I posted the recipe at the end.

Wrapped up the weekend with some homework!

Too bad it went by in a flash!

Cookies & Creme Chocolate Pudding Pops

1 pkg. (4 serv) Jello-O Chocolate Instant Pudding
2 cups cold milk
6 Oreo cookies
1/2 cup thawed Cool Whip

To Make:
1* Beat pudding mix and milk in a large bowl with whisk for 2 mins
2* Place cookies in a resealable plastic bag. Use a rolling pin to crush cookies.
3* Add cookies and Cool Whip to pudding, stir until blended.
4* Spoon into 9 paper or plastic cups.
5* Insert wooden popsicle stick or plastic spoon into each for handle. Freeze for 5 hours or until firm.

They were very yummy!

Father Visit

Rich's Dad came for a visit two weeks ago. We had a good time and we shared lots of laughs.
His Dad needed a break after tax season. Aside from his full time job, he's taken on his own business of doing taxes for others...It's grown quite a bit and was happy the hectic time was pretty much over.
Above is a pic of him after supper and a few drinks. Rich took it upon himself to put cream on his nose.
Over. and over. and over. again.
It was pretty funny though.
Richard's Dad came bearing gifts for the boys as always, and even for baby Jacob!
We were both taken aback by it all... Handmade clothes from cute little old church ladies,
a mattress, and even a car seat! A HUGE thanks!!!

I guess a trip to Montreal wouldn't be complete without sloppy subs. We also had amazing pizza from Tre Colori, an Italian restaurant that was featured at the Beer Festival. Every time he visits, he always talks about how you can't get food like this in Ontario. At Christmas, Rich's bro Adam went back to Ontario with about 7 subs!
We also played lots of Boggle (big surprise), Olga came over too...
In all it was a great time. :-)

More to come...

Mother's Day

I know its been awhile and lots has been going on. I want to take the chance to update everyone, and I guess would like to go as far back as Mother's Day. Happy Mother's Day! :-)
I headed over to my parents and did a little shopping at Le Panier with Olga, for a gift that I could put together. I picked up a wicker basket, lined it with a decorative tea towel and filled it with some specialty jam and baked goods. I'm kicking myself for not taking a pic! I was happy with the way it turned out. I also made her breakfast the following morning so, I presented it to her then. She was very happy!
The previous night we headed out to a great restaurant called Madison's. The family gathered there to meet my brother's new girlfriend Veronica, who is very sweet and very cute! She's got a smile that lights up the room. Again, kicking myself for not having my camera. I brought her a plant of red Gerbera daisies as a welcome gift, which she later told my bro made her feel very welcome!
I knew it would be a little scary for her at first, and wanted her to feel at ease :).
The place was packed and the service was slow but the food and company definitely made up for it! My brother and Veronica are planning to go to Korea soon to teach. She just finished up her degree at McGill and is also looking to do her Master's. I had a lot of fun talking with her. My mom as usual asked her very bizarre questions. Our favorite was...So Veronica, do you like vegetables?
She claims she just didn't want to scare her away. We love you mom but you are crazy.

Hospital Visit

Our hospital visit went very well. We toured the Maternity Ward with about 3 other couples roughly the same age. I filled out a menu of my food preferences but not before Rich did while I was in the bathroom. He said that I preferred veal and beef and other not so appealing things. So needless to say, the paper was very messy when I handed it in! We are never safe from each others antics.

We got the low down on each room, and where I would be in each stage of labor.  The hospital is ultra modern and extremely clean (of course)! We're going to opt for a private room because the semi private is quite small. It would seem a bit tight to share it with another family, with their visitors coming and going, and crying babies etc...
So it definitely helped both of us feel more prepared for the big day. :-) I'm confident that I will be in good hands.

In other news, I'm getting my iron shots every week. Yesterday, I got another one which surprisingly hurt quite a bit! Not only was my bum cheek suffering, I agreed to let student nurses in to observe! Anyway, there isn't much modesty or privacy in a hospital that's for sure.
Afterward, I was done and on my merry way. :-)

Happy Birthday Cari!

Sending warm birthday wishes and BIG hugs to Cari on her special day (Australia time ;))!
Miss you lots!

Damn Anemia!

Just a quick health update since health and food are always on my mind.
All is well in baby land and I'm doing great, except... yep you guessed it, my iron.
It's a wonder I've lived this long! ;) My very low levels only went up one point after taking an extra dose of iron everyday. So after reviewing my last blood test, my doctor sent me to the hospital for an iron injection right away. So from now til I give birth, I will have to go to the hospital every week for a shot, and continue taking my two iron pills a day. How exciting!
My time at the hospital went well, I got to poke around the maternity ward (which was surprisingly quiet!), and even saw some very cute swaddled babies and one little fighter in an incubator! It brought tears to my eyes! It's coming VERY soon!

Tonight is my visit at the hospital for a tour, where the little one will make his grand entrance.  Should be exciting and put some of my fears to rest or maybe make them worse! hehe I will let you know how it went!

Angel Woods

This weekend Rich had a hockey tournament in the West Island Saturday and Sunday. I took the opportunity to bring Maya and the boys to Angel Woods. Needless to say it was a blast. I really missed going there. Maya was in heaven and played with lots of dogs, and the boys really enjoyed themselves too.

It was weird not walking as far as I used to, but no one else knew the difference but me!
It was the first time that I couldn't wait to have my body back to myself.
We met lots of people and dogs, and the boys were tearing up and down the paths and collected lots of sticks.

How far does this path go? They kept wanting to walk to the next marker...

We also spent some time on Saturday and Sunday at my parents, the boys didn't want to leave. They were playing Ultimate Alliance for XBOX. It's very hard to tear them away from video games!
They are so young and incredibly good at them too. It always surprises me.

Richard did amazing on Saturday. He won both games against a strong team. He was SO happy when we picked him up after his first game. He recounted all his great saves and said that he was standing on his head. He really enjoyed the 3 on 3 because he always had to be "on", there were always shots being taken, and he enjoyed the fast pace of it all.
All of his hard work really paid off, and he got a standing ovation the next day :-).

Needless to say it was a great weekend! We were all pooped!!!
