Saturday BBQ

You asked for it! I'm almost ready to pop! hehe
I feel great for the most part, I'm VERY VERY hungry most of the time! hehe
I can't stop eating fruit and peanut butter. The little one is very active and his head is down now, and we can feel him right under my skin, he's definitely running out of room.

Papaya shows off any little treasure she finds and prances around while we praise her. She really is a little princess.

Momsies

I think Rich just won at Boggle!

Enjoying the weather

The weather was so nice, we invited my Mom, Brother Bill and Olga over for a yummy BBQ. The temperature rose up to 27!!!

Since Rich and I are crazy addicted to Boggle right now (he's amazing at this game), we challenged my brother and Olga (seasoned players) to many games. We all did really well. The game is a lot harder with four people.

I'm so excited for the warmer temps! Hope you're all doing well!

Baby Shower

I had a wonderful time at my surprise baby shower last Sunday! Mom, Joyce and Debbie had been planning it for awhile now, and all the planning had paid off! I could not have imagined a nicer baby shower! It was perfect!

It was nice to see everyone together at one time. The decorations, games, and incredible food were wonderful. I also got spoiled rotten! People were extremely generous, I couldn't get over everything! Baby Jacob got lots of clothes, and a handmade sweater too! Someone also had a great idea to fill up a toy box full of useful presents like baby wipes, cloths, clothes, toys etc...anything you could imagine for your baby, was in the box! I was so shocked at the generosity of everyone.

The slideshow above are a few pics that were sent to me recently, they don't show everyone, so sorry to those who aren't in the slideshow!

A huge thank you to everyone for coming!

Kite Runner

I've been searching for a great book that I wouldn't be able to put down for awhile now. I'm done with the mindless zombie books (no pun). I'm glad that I finally found the Kite Runner. It was actually sitting on my shelf for more than a year. The story takes you on a young boy's journey into adulthood, from growing up in a privileged home in Afghanistan, to its political downfall, and then into his adulthood in America. It explores his strained relationship with his father, with most of the focus on his haunting friendship with his servant "best friend" Hassan.

The book is very well paced, and the writing flowed easily throughout the ups and downs of Amir's life. What I particularly enjoyed about the book, was how I ended up really disliking the main character, which I find rare in books. At first you are somewhat understanding and sympathetic to his ways, then something occurs that turns you right off. It added a surprising and original twist to the story. His jealousy and cowardly nature is often overshadowed by his intensely loyal friend Hassan, and leads to much emotional turmoil and deception. Thank goodness the main character redeems himself at the end! I won't say more. Just read it!

It's also a movie!

Baby Room

Hi everyone! Hope you are all doing well. We've been keeping busy as usual, and enjoying the milder temperatures :) The snow is all gone and everything smells like poop! Spring is definitely here. I've been spending a lot of time at the dog park, Maya is doing so much better with the other dogs, and is a lot less fearful of the big ones.

We had a fun weekend with the boys, we went to a Quebec Junior hockey game on Friday night, in Drummondville. Montreal got beat pretty bad. The boys weren't very interested, so we left early. There was sooo much fighting, and so much testosterone, it made me wonder what I was in store for when all of the boys gets older! Yikes!

Saturday, Rich and the boys went to see Monsters vs. Aliens. I didn't end up going because right before we were supposed to head out, Maya knocked me square in the nose, and gave me the nose bleed of the century. There was so much blood! Maya communicates a lot by giving you her paw. My nose just got in the way. I tried to hide all the blood from the boys because it was a horrific sight, so I hid in the bathroom until it was done. Sorry no pics were taken ;) Anywho, I insisted that they go without me, I was feeling super dizzy after all of that, and I would see it another time...
I'm off to see it today :) They all said it was amazing! Update: IT WAS! Love the 3D movies that are coming out now.

The baby's room is almost finished!!! Yay!!! We are SO happy with the way that it turned out.
Take a look at the progress...

Taping the trim

Primed and taping very straight lines for the moldings and paint

Testing the colours against the furniture and bedding. We went for a shade darker than the original bottom colour that was picked because the top and bottom were too similar.

Top done

and the bottom...

Cutting the moldings

Furniture coming together

Maya will be in charge of diapers

Et voila!

The below pic was taken during the day... We have a few more things to do to wrap it up but this is it for the most part. The pics don't do it justice! It's a very warm feeling and it'll make all the time spent in here, very pleasant. :) I guess you'll all have to come visit to get the true essence of the room :)

We're both very excited and happy with the results, we make a great team!
