Jacob's First Christmas

Christmas was wonderful and it was nice to have everyone under one roof to celebrate. We had tons of fun on Christmas Eve. We played some Wii and Time's Up, which always leaves us in hysterics.
Saturday morning Richard's Dad started the cooking, stuffing and 26 lb bird prep... Everyone helped out this year, it made it super easy, and I wasn't pooped at the end of it all.
Jacob was the hit of Christmas dinner, he giggled the whole way through and made us all laugh along. He's really a charismatic boy!

Sleepy Boy!

Jacob took a little snooze while we picked up a few things at the grocery store.
He loves shopping and is usually very stimulated by the millions of things to look at.
By the third aisle he couldn't keep his eyes open. He got many laughs while I waited on the bench for him to wake up...
How cute is he?!? So far six months is my favorite age!

Christmas Eve

Hope you are all enjoying a cozy Christmas Eve.
xox
Richard's family is arriving soon. We're looking forward to all of our new Christmas traditions!
Rock Band and Time's Up!

Solids!

I'm SO excited about cooking for Jacob! I'm having fun thinking up ideas and learning about all the best ways to prepare his food.
It's fun to to learn which foods are the best to introduce at different ages.
He has already had rice cereal and oats. Now for the fun stuff! Veggies!
I figured the best one to start with would be carrots. They just happen to be organic too :-)
So I cut and steamed away then pureed (Jacob cried when I used the blender :-()

Also prepared some beans...

Mixed a little water in with the carrots, not the steam water because apparently its too much nitrates for six months.

Froze them in the ice cube tray, then transfered the cubes to bags and containers.

He loved his first bite.

Wait a minute, this isn't cereal!!!

Needless to say, he wasn't crazy about it but he LOVED the beans a few days later. Who knew!

Next Avocados!

First Visit

Rich is home this weekend. I wanted to post a quick pic...
We went to St-Bruno Mall today to get a pic with all three boys. It was a long line up but well worth it. It was Jacob's second Santa visit this year (will scan and post his pic) but it was Zach and Josh's first time ever! Surprisingly Zach was the shy one and Josh was very excited to meet him.
What better way to end the day than to have a child barf in the car on the way home. Poor Josh got car sick. He made a real mess but at least it was a rental. hehe
He got most of it in the Tim Bits box. Josh felt better after we all told him our "barf in the car" stories too.

Happy Holidays everyone!

Uncle Bill

My Brother left a few weeks ago for South Korea. He packed everything up, even his video games. He settled into his apartment and is loving it so far. His place is new and very small. He's right next to the subway so he can just hop on and get to work in a flash. He hasn't started teaching yet but is observing. He is going to be teaching high school as oppose to elementary like he thought. Good luck!

Thank goodness for Skype!

He said he wished he knew a bit more Korean, would make ordering much easier...

Apparently they treat take out customers very well, he got his package wrapped in a big bow.

Good Luck Bill, we all miss you!

Citrouille!

Ok Ok, so its not the most original costume but I thought it was a great way to introduce Jacob to Halloween.

It was either a pumpkin or a cowboy. The cowboy would've been very funny but the rest of the costume would've been lost under his jacket so this was the best bet.

Halloween didn't quite turn out the way we had expected this year.
On his way home from Toronto, Richard got a call from his brother saying that they had been in contact with someone who had H1N1. We decided to play it safe since Jacob cannot be vaccinated (6 mts +). I can be vaccinated, and since I'm nursing, Jacob will be safe. Unfortunately clinics hadn't started their mass vaccinations yet. There is a high level of paranoia here, and to make matter worse Rich was vomiting like crazy the night before he came home.

So now it'll be a full month since we've seen each other. :-(
I'm really looking forward to next weekend. It can get pretty lonely here sometimes.

So we had a great weekend with Nana and Papi. We got dressed up and went to visit Jacob's Great Nanny too. She was thrilled to see him. It really turned out well. Jacob also got to spend time with his Uncle Bill, and he even did some window shopping.

Apparently Halloween was crazy with tons of trick or treaters in Otterburn Park...
The boys were here too, so at least they got to enjoy it!

Hope your Halloween was Spooktacular!

Halloween is Almost Upon Us!

How exciting! Wait til you see Jacob's costume...
Lately he's rolling around and around...just 4 days ago he was stuck on his tummy once he rolled onto it. I put him on his tummy time blanket, and next thing you know, he was rolling everywhere!
He lifts his bum and kicks out his legs too... He'll be crawling before we know it!

Already?

Jacob turned 4 months on the 12th. He's SO amazing and very sweet. It's incredible how quickly he's able to do more things! He rolls on his tummy very quickly and doesn't get frustrated anymore. Jacob is sporting 6 month old and up clothes too. He's very tall.

He's turned into quite the little charmer. Always smiling and giggling at everyone. He's even taken up growling! He had a shot yesterday and he growled at a man in the waiting room.
Just in time for Halloween.

Thanks for the goodies Mich! He looks so cute in his T-Shirts!

My Mom went to Disney with a friend and brought back some Mickey hats for the boys. It took a few tries to get the pic right but I liked this one best.

Graveyard pudding anyone? We made this creepy treat last weekend but the boys were too grossed out to eat it...

One of last camping trips for the season... All the boys in their hoodies.

Other than that, feeling a little lonely with Rich gone to TO to do a contract. Really appreciate my weekend visitors! Keeping our fingers crossed that he comes home and finds something here. Both feeling stressed...

Will post more pics but they're on my laptop...

Parc Jacques Cartier

We spent a long weekend in the woods at one of our favorite parks, Parc Jacques Cartier. The weather was cool, I definitely prefer camping in this weather. No bugs and the air is crisp! Fall is finally here.
We also gave Jacob extra kisses to celebrate his 3 month milestone! He's officially an infant!
It really went by in a blink of an eye!

Rich played with some chipmunks

...and made some popcorn

...Jacob enjoyed his chair too

and we all shared lots of giggles

Love the baby in a bag! It kept him nice and toasty

Had to throw this one in!

We'll be going camping again next weekend with everyone in Drummondville. I think we'll have one more trip around Thanksgiving, before we close up for the season.

Hope you're all doing well!

First Camping Trip

Peek-A-Boo! Jacob got his first camping badge this past weekend at Voyageur Park.

It was so hot that he spent a lot of time in his diaper (while in the trailer). The a/c wasn't working because we didn't have the proper power outlet at our site. We had a great fan though! It kept us nice and cool for the most part.

We had some nice walks

...and lots of drool

...played some great games. Boggle (of course) and lots of Keltis

...and ate like champs. We always do!

This was a nice spicy Vindaloo dish. If you love spicy curry then this one's for you!

Best of all, we all got to do some serious relaxing!

Cardio Appt

Here's a couple of pics from our trip to the hospital today. Yep, another visit.
At his very first check up on July 1st, his doctor thought she heard a murmur. So we got ourselves a rendez-vous with a cardio specialist who visits from St Justine Hospital. Babies usually grow out of it if its heard a little while after birth...If you hear it right away, then there's cause for concern.
Anyway, it was all very quick, barely any waiting and they did an ultrasound, and other heart related tests. He got a clean bill of health. No murmur.
I just have to say that we're SO sick of hospitals. Yes, we know it was all for the best.
I was just there last week for my after surgery follow up that took nearly two hours.
After everything...we've had enough!
Even Jacob's not impressed about going back!

He was pooped after all the excitement!

Follow Up

All set and ready for take off... Jacob's follow up with his surgeons at the Childrens went very well. He's tip top and doesn't have to go back. He'll have a little scar like a backwards Q on his belly button but it will make for a great story. We gave the surgeons our heartfelt thanks and
were on our way...

We stopped at Atwater market and picked up a few goodies. I hadn't been there in years. My parents used to take my bro and I there every weekend, then out for hot dogs on Notre Dame street. Those were some good times. Especially the huge candy store! My grandmother used to tell me that I'd get tape worms if I ate too much candy. Maybe that's why I still don't eat much candy to this day!

How cute is he?!?!?!

Knock Knock!

It's Michy!
Mich and her hubby Tim came for a visit last week. She hasn't been back to Canada in quite awhile so it was a special trip. We caught up and didn't skip a beat from the last time we saw each other. We talked about our new adventures and caught up on old ones too. :)

Tim brought a tickle trunk or should say bag of drinks. I think he said this was chocolate milk.

Arizona Cactus Moonshine. Jk...Sorry to disappoint but it's only water. He makes sure to drink half his weight in water per day.

Glad she got to see Jacob, thanks for the nice visit Mich & Tim!

Fun Times...

After years of doing this with children of many varying ages, I finally got a chance to do it with my own flesh and blood. It took on a whole new meaning :) .

Jacob was a very good sport while getting his foot painted. Dad enjoyed it too!

He didn't seem to mind getting cleaned up aftwerward either.

Couldnt resist posting this random pic...no we didn't print his bum ;) hmm, that might be an idea...

It was such a success that we did it again when Zach and Josh came for a surprise overnight stay.

They both got a turn...

Tickles and lots of giggles...

They loved when Daddy got in on the fun...

Even Rich and I got our feet done. All of this is for a bigger project that I'm not at liberty to discuss right now...

Then we had a nightime swim with glowsticks...

...the boys had a fire around the new chimney that I got for my b-day! Here's an earlier pic of Rich building the pit...

Et voila! All done...I love it! They had fun that night singing songs and telling knock knock jokes...
